Pegasus and man and spear. A sudden rush of adrenaline sends the beast meeting the attack with a wind-moving roar. Blinding smoke pours out to rise around Calliope and her rider. Heat promises the flame that cannot be yet seen. Jaws agape, the Chimera stands below the smoke billowing to the sky like a bannered balloon. Her back paw twitches slightly as the inky rope momentarily tightens. Claws of seeming substance appear from the depths of her four paws. Tail lashing, she waits.
