Subject: Village stops check cashing store Author: Anonymous [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 20:17:14 09/28/04 Tue Thank God we are part of a village and not the corrupt and over-reaching Town of Hempstead. The town would have allowed the check-cashing store to exist because a weak and impoverished downtown East Rockaway means a complacent population that is less likely to challenge their power. We are lucky to have a representative government which answers directly to the village residents, unlike people in Oceanside and Bay Park who are fortunate to have their letter answered, let alone taken under consideration. If you are still so hot to trot about the Town, think about how much money they waste on their own glossy propaganda every week. While the village makes cost-efficient, quarterly updates on black and white paper, the Town seeks to reinforce its own power at the taxpayer's expense. People like Santino are frauds. If they were real Republicans, they would want to limit or eliminate unnecessary layers of government like the Town of Hempstead. Does this smell fishy.They can say what they want, but the facts remain the state of neglect that East Rockaway is in we have but one man to thank for this and all the problems in E.R.
