Subject: Baby Girl Gleason 4/11/1954

I am assisting my childhood friend try and locate her birthmother or find
more identifying information regarding her birth family so that she can
locate her. She has the *non* indentifying information and the adoption
decree and medical release from the Department of Social Services. Her birth
mom was from Minnesota and her birthmother came to California for her birth.

Here is what we know:

Name: Baby Girl Gleason
Born: 4/11/1954
Renamed after adoption: Jill Marie Atkinson
Adopted: Los Angeles County, CA
Attorney: John C. Campbell
Case # AD28802

Mothers Name: Betty Gleason
Born: City in Texas
Age at birth: 25
State of Residence at birth: In California 4 months
Occupation: Waitress

Fathers Name: Gleason
Born: City in Minnesota
Age at birth: 31
Occupation: Punch Press Operator
Military: Navy 5 1/2 years

Mother had married at 19 and had 2 daughters born 1947 and 1951, and a son
born 1949 - all in good health. Mother had divorced, and she had custody of
the girls and the father had custody of the boy. She had a second brief
marriage after her divorce and was divorced a second time. She then tried a
brief reconcilation with her first husband during which she became pregnant
with Jill. That did not work out and she felt adoption would be the best for
her. She (Betty) became aquainted with Jill's adoptive mother and felt
satisfied with having them adopt her. She told the worker she planned to
return to Minnesota to ensure continuing to recieve child support from her
former husband.

From this information above I gathered these avenues for potenially locating
her birthmother or finding relatives:

1. Take a look at Minnesota divorce records. Married twice

2. Take a look at Minnesota Marriage Records (it will be a needle in a
haystack search)

3. Try to find out her maiden name from her childrens birth records (2 girls
and 1 boy) and divorce records

4. If we can secure he maiden name - then search Texas for her birth record.

Birth Family Info: Birth mothers (Betty's) father died at 55 of cerebral
hemorrage. He had been dimpled in WWI. Betty's mother, 55, good health,
lived in Minnesota. Betty had a brother, 32, good health.

There are prolly many other *clues* missed here - so if any one can help us
find Jill's heritage PLEASE write.
