Subject: Looking for my son, born 01-29-86, Belleville, IL

I'm looking for my son. The information that I have on him is the following:

Birthplace: Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL
D.O.B.: Jan. 29, 1986
Adopted fathers real first name: Bruce
My son's name that was supposedly given to him: Curt Arthur
Residence: Columbia, IL
Adopted parents friends who help with the adoption: Ken & Mary Fran Besse

My name is Elizabeth Johnson. At the time of my son's birth, my last name was Behrman. I lived in Belleville, IL and was 19 years old when I gave birth to my son.

My son's birth father's name is Allen Brannam. The adoption had affected us both emotionally and mentally. About 1 1/2 years after Curt was born, Allen and I had split up, we were never married but had talked about it many times. Over the years, we had lost contact with each other and the last I heard, Allen too is searching for you Curt.

In 1995 at my brothers graduation party, Ken & Mary Fran Besse had informed me that your parents had stated that they would not pay for your college tuition if they found out that you came looking for me. Not sure how true this is, but if this is true, and you are aware of this then maybe this will help narrow my search down.

You have a half sister named Mary Jo, she is 18 and has a son who is going to be 2 years old on Oct. 5, 2006. You also have a half brother named Larry, he is 16. They both know about you. I've spoken openly about you to them. They too are anxious to meet you.

I'm sure you are wondering why I had kept Mary Jo and Larry, which is a very fair question. When I had you, I was only 19 years old. I wasn't working nor was your father. We were both young and in love, without jobs. Although back then, I didn't feel I was too young to have you. However, my parents did. They wanted the best for you and felt that I wasn't mature or responsible enough to keep you, so ... the rest of the story I will tell you when we meet.

Curt, there has not been a day that has gone by that I haven't thought about you or missed you. For the first 3 days of your life, I spent every possible waking second that the hospital would allow me. I have pictures of you and I during those 3 days, and I still have pictures of you that your adoptive parents had sent me, only til you had turned 5. After that, they realized that your looks would pretty much remain the same and feared that I'd be able to pick you out in a crowd. And since we lived so close to each other, I guess your adoptive parents felt that was best.

I do hope and pray that we find each other someday soon...very soon.

I love you!
~Mom~ (Beth)

P.S. I hope you don't mind that I call myself your mom. After all, I am your birth mom.
