He looks back once more to make sure she had indeed cleared the obstacle. He laughs outloud in sheer enjoyment. This was life: running full tilt across the sandy soil with barely enough light to see in front of you. His tail slaps in the twilight wind. Then he sees faint traces of light reflecting from something ahead. Something that look an awful like water. Suddenly, he slams on the brakes and downshifts to first gear. He drops his rear end, hooves throwing sand all over the place. Ahhh! He screams in fright. He trips over a large stone and sails into the lagoon, creating something short of a tsunami.

(ooo, I'm just taking us on a roller coaster ride;)
