Voy Upgrade -- Schnee, 07:32:27 02/06/03 Thu
It looks like Voy is finally getting to do their long planned upgrade in the next week or so. (Hey it's only a year later than they originally planned. ;) LOL)

So that means things could be bumpy this next week and the board may be down during that time. I have no control over this, LOL. Here's what Voy posted on their site:

"VoyForums is planning a scheduled downtime within the next few days. The downtime is for the purpose of upgrading the VoyForums software to the newest version. We expect the downtime to last hours, and may be prolonged to ensure a clean upgrade. Please see Beta.voy.com and Beta.users.voyager.com to view the new software."

What I will do is backup the message database now so that if they have problems we shouldn't lose what is currently posted. Hopefully if all goes well on their end we won't have any problems...the board will just be inaccessible for a short time....perhaps a day or two.

Thanks for your patience. Hopefully the upgrades will prove to be beneficial and make the board more stable. :)

Hi everyone,

I'd just like to take a moment to remind authors that when you story threads get to about 50 posts (story chapters + comments), you need to post your next chapter up top. Voy continues to have difficulties with long threads when it comes to thread rotation.

Please don't wait until I remind you to post up top. Police yourselves so that the boards will rotate the threads properly and not dump everything into the archive when it attempts to rotate threads. I fear Llan will be needing another rebuild soon because it continues to have rotation issues. And DM has several stories with long threads such that if these story threads get much longer, it may begin to be affected, too.

Since this is a free service we are using, we all have to be mindful of what is necessary to keep the software and databases happy and functioning properly. Thanks for your continued cooperation.
