Britney Spears did something new: She attended the London
premiere of her movie "Crossroads" and was heartily booed by her
fans. About 3,000 fans, some of whom had traveled from as far away as
South Africa, lined up for hours hoping to see Britney. Wearing a
backless, halter-neck silver sequined dress, she showed up an hour
late to the Odeon Leicester Square in London's West End and whisked
past them all, which set off a frenzy of boos and hisses. And then
they cried. (Hey, her fans are young.) Fran Handley, 16, of East
Sussex in southern England waited for nearly six hours hoping to get
Britney's autograph. She told the UK's Press Association, "All I saw
was a flash of sequin and that was it. It wasn't worth my time."

Well, fans, Britney may have an excuse this time. It seems that she
and Justin Timberlake really are on the outs. Britney finally
admitted it after weeks of denying the breakup rumors. Well, she sort
of admitted it. When asked at a press conference if she was involved
in an "intense relationship," Spears replied: "No, I would not say I
was in an intense relationship with anyone at the moment." But does
she have her eye on a certain other young man...perhaps one named
Prince William? When told during that same press conference that her
British fans were placing bets on her one day dating the future king
of England, she said: "That's nice. To be associated with him is very
cool. Who wouldn't want to be a princess?" Being a pop princess must
not be enough.
