Guitarist Wes Borland has left Limp Bizkit.

"Limp Bizkit and Wes Borland have amicably decided to part ways," the band's management, the Firm, said in a statement. "Both Limp Bizkit and Borland will continue to pursue their respective musical careers. Both wish each other the best of luck in all future endeavors."

Calls to the Firm for additional information on the split were not immediately returned.

Borland, who often appeared onstage in elaborate face and body paint, had been the Bizkit axeman since the Jacksonville, Florida, group's inception in 1994. He was easily the second most popular band member behind frontman Fred Durst, garnering a number of online fan clubs and Web sites devoted solely to him.

The guitarist's departure won't affect the release of the Limp Bizkit remix LP, New Old Songs, due in December (see "Timbaland, P. Diddy, Neptunes Do It Their Way On Bizkit Remix LP"); or DJ Lethal's solo album, expected to surface in February or March (see "Bizkit's DJ Lethal Records With Method Man, Aaron Lewis For Solo LP"), said a spokesperson for the Firm.

It's not known, however, how it will affect the new Limp Bizkit studio album (see "Fred Durst To Slam 'Hatorade Drinkers' On Next Bizkit LP").

In February, Borland released Duke Lion Fights the Terror!!, the debut album by his side project Big Dumb Face (see "Limp Bizkit's Borland Gets Dumb With Side Project"). It was followed by a month-long tour in March (see "Limp Bizkit's Borland Lines Up Big Dumb Tour").
