There is two common views here taken out of Hebrews 6:4-6

Heb 6:4-6
4 It is IMPOSSIBLE for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,
5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age,
6 if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. (NIV)

The question is are the people talked about in these verses SAVED or UNSAVED?

View #1 is that these persons were saved fallen away and consequently lost their salvation.

View #2 is that these people were NEVER SAVED at all. They made an outward confession of faith but were never born again. This is the view of the eternal security believers.

The way the passage is worded states that "IF" a man does fall away after he has tasted and shared in the heavenly gift and Holy Spirit it is "IMPOSSIBLE" for him to repent or be saved again. Those who believe this way would look foolish in attempting to get the backslider to repent seeing that it is IMPOSSIBLE. They should rather tell the backslider who may want to repent that he has no hope because it is impossible to repent.

Notes in the Scofield Bible re; this passage state that this presents the case of Jewish professed believers who HALT SHORT of faith in Christ after advancing to the very threshold of salvation, even going along with the Holy Spirit in His work of enlightenment and conviction. (Jn. 16:8-10) It doesn't say they had faith.

In other words it is said that there are professors posing as believers and yet not be possesors. So if the professors were really possesors and they fell from grace it would be impossible for him to repent again.

the OSAS people state that professor was merely never saved to begin with. This teaching keeps the door open to salvation to the professor that is not a possesor at present.

I believe there are those who have a "said" faith and I believe there are those who have "genuine" faith. The real issue is maturity. If you have been truly born again the idea is to mature in the Spirit demonstrating genuine faith. If this doesn't happen even if you profess, your profession may not as a possesssor. In other words I believe it teaches you were never saved.
