Didn't serve with the 261st,but spent lots of time tdy with them,been on the moutain and bay many times,I was with the 459th and I was called on day or nite to repair their generators,had lots of bad experiences between Nha Trang and there,seemed like your first always found some way of putting me on gaurd duty,usually in the tower with a 79,were you on the mountain when we lost all of those guys? I was there bout a wk after(volunteered for door gunner so i wouldn,t have to convoy)we hovered long enough to drop off mail bag,made contact with charlie as soon as we lifted off in a paddy that had a small building at the edge,three of them didn't make it for sure,i remeber one trip that we had several NCOs from your unit going to BTLN for premotoin,we came upon a 55 gal.of explosives in the road,stopped and took sniper fire,all opened up but a black E-6,he hit the deck and laid there till it was over,he had got so scared or excited that he had jammed his clip in backwards,i was there Jan 68-Jan 69
