In reply to: both MIA 's message, "Where are they now ... Missy-Jo and Kathy?! Hope you're both okay?" on Mon January 19, 2009 9:59pm CST

My dad had a heart attack Jan 4 and another Jan 5. He was in the hospital almost a week, then came home to take care of some things, before checking in for quintuple (5) bypass surgery. He had that on Jan 21, and he's doing great after the surgery. He may get to go home Monday or Tuesday. He has severe coronary artery disease, they won't be able to do anything else for him as far as surgery goes. He'll have to change his diet and exercise, stop smoking, and will eventually have major heart problems, as he still has 30 blockages that they couldn't take care of.
I was at the hospital from 2 pm Thursday til 2 pm Friday, and only got 3 hours sleep, so I'm pretty much wiped out and hoping to catch up on sleep soon. Fibro and CFS are both with me right now, so you can guess how I feel.
My mom's cousin died, I always called her "Aunt Charlotte." She had uncontrollable diabetes, not because she didn't take care of it, but because no medication worked, and no matter how well she took care of herself (which was textbook perfect) they couldn't keep it down. Her husband had to call 911 on Wednesday morning, and in the wee hours of Wednesday/Thursday, they took her off life support. We went to visitation last night, and I was so mad I could chew nails.
Her daughter, who I've always been close to and share a name with, is 41 years old and has had several heart surgeries. Everybody is telling her to hold her grief in, don't let it show, that she has to be strong for her daddy. Anybody who knows me very well knows that I soon made it clear people were to stop telling Kathy that or else :-)
Sorry my answer was so long, but it's a lot that's been going on this month. I'll stop here though, I've got to get ready to head to the hospital.
Thanks again for asking, I'm sure Missy-Jo will agree, it's always nice to be missed!

Yep, I'm grossly underappreciated at home. (NT)Missy-JoSat January 24, 2009 4:33pm CST
