Practice Fields

The Practice Fields lie just outside the village, a simple yet useful facility offering practice areas for most skills, as well as doubling as a Tournament location. Around the outside of the buildings is a large dirt track. A small clearing holds rocks for lifting and slinging, a few spears for throwing, a wrestling area, and various other 'workout' materials..

He 'wos' the horse with a silent movement, unseen, and then the ebony stallion tenses expectantly. Then suddenly the horse shoots off, galloping around the track at lightning speed before slowing again.

The man walks in with the cloak over him. After being in so much war he decides maybe he should fight again. He holds out a sword that he has had since his child birth. The blade of the sword was silver with ancient writings down it. It had a black handle with parcel coming from it. He stands there without a word. He faces a tree and decides to do an ancient technique he had learned in the past. He holds his sword up high as it starts to glow a gol color. All of a sudden he yells Beam Blade Slash. A wave of energy shot to the tree. It went trough it causing no harm but right after it unable to have seen him because of the beam was the man with the sword. He slices through the tree and he puts his sword up as he watches the tree fall. He then sits on the stump that was left and just waits.

Spring, the season of flowers.. and mud. The massive ebony war-steed picks his way through the drier parts of the dirt track, the cloaked woman astride allowing him to pick his own, dry, path. Cool gaze follows the progress of the lesson before nudging the stallion onto the grass, guiding him to the side and dismounting lithely. The stallion nudges her roughly, drawing her attention back to the muddy figure. Leading the stallion into the open, but dry stable, she extracts a piece of apple from her cloak, the steed quickly flicking his ears forward and shoving his nose into her hands expectantly.
As he lips the piece of apple into his mouth, the womans eyes roam the premisis... A few more people than before, but she was content to wait..

The two brothers enter the practice fields, watching the Instructor and the woman fight. "She's good." one remarks, blue eyes sparkling. The other nods, black eyes blank, but not lifeless. "Yes, but still a beginner." he says. They both sit down on a fallen log, watching the goings on out of sheer curiousity. After five minutes, the first asks, "Sallah, don't we know her?" Sallah is silent. Finally, he answers, "I think so. But maybe we don't. Let's go Derek, we need to find some horses." "Ah, come on, I want to meet her." Derek protests. "You'd want to meet any pretty girl that comes along, now come on...." "Just wait a minute, okay?" Sallah sighs. "Okay, but just for a minute."

Silent astonishment follows in the wake of Fyre's unusual feat. Cool gaze follows the flickering of the fire in her palm, stirred suddenly by Stormy's sudden speech to the manniquen. He turns, watching the girl practice animatedly, smirking slightly..
"Are you sure you would not rather work upon the stage lass?" he calls out with amusement.
He turns back to Fyre, speaking abruptly.
"You've got a job, go ahead down the armory and make yourself at home, the side door is open, and my other dog won't hurt you if you bring him with ye."
He nodds his head in the direction of Aiden, now practicing the kittens form of play and whapping her somewhat clumsily with his paw.
"Scrap metal is kept on the side of the forge, go ahead and experiment, I'll be down as soon as I can."
Grey eyes glance over her once more before turning and heading back twoard Stormy.
"Yes,yes, I was watching.... your courtesy is not all bad but we might try some work on your attacking.."

Romping out into the fresh air, the young male canine trots over to the two human, turning to face Connor. Seated on a rough wooden bench outside the cabin, a muscular man works tediously at sanding an axe-handle smooth of blemishes. He glances up occasionally, gaze following the youth's progress around the track, before bending his head once more over his work.

At the center of the compound is the jousting tilt, with a poorched viewing stand on one side and a preparation area for the horses and riders on the other. Next to the performance tilt, is a quintain, a pivioting shield for preparation for competition. At the end of the tilt is a small wooden shed, containing spare blunt-ended lances.

On the other side of the stand is a large fenced area, the tourney. A number of decoys stand scattered around the field, some dressed in potatoe sacks, many quite battered. An open shed nearby shows the use of this area. Inside are wooden swords, overly-heavy blunt metal swords, blunt axes,spears and wooden shields lying in wait.

Other activity areas lay in a circle around the joust and tourney. A pile of rocks, varying in size mark a weight-lifting/ stone throwing area. A small dirt ring serves as a wrestling area. And around the outside of the complex is a dirt track, for both running and riding..

Set away from the other activities is an archery field. Large round targets are set along the tree-line. Further down, stuffed 'dummies' also serve as targets. Painted lines along the ground mark the required distances. A shed nearby contains spare arrows for the competitors..
