Subject: Silence. Complete silence. Every person, every flower, every individual leaf held it's breath...

Time seemed to slow. The boys ears listened for one sound; the gunshot. A bannering flag of gold and red waved, lone. A cardinal whistled somewhere and-nothing...yet. Even the crazed stallion stopped; his nostrils not vibrating. And that's when all heck broke loose. The pistol boomed, shooting the bullet into the sky. The ebony mount, whose every nerve had been attuned to his surroundings had taken off seconds before the firing and bounded forward with impressive early speed. However, the racer's head was up and his ears pricked showing a lack of stress. Iron muscles rippled under a silky midnight coat. High tail carriage is viewed. The boy’s eyes scan the track ahead of him, and the reins are taunt, the curb pulling at the horses mouth and causing him to salivate. The jockey was holding his horse in, saving him, although they were already going quite fast. The hooves left the sand-dirt of the track almost as soon as they landed, creating a blur. The boy saw, or better said, felt the blood trickle down his horse’s leg. He tried to pull the steed up but to no avail; however the minor clip would do no harm to the race. The loud breathing of the horse and screaming of the wind were the only sounds to its rider. The four legger hugged the inside rail, saving as much ground as possible in the beginning of the turn as the boy rubbed its neck slightly. They rounded half of the first turn snug and in good position.

OCC-Stop your post at the first half around the first turn.
