From the internet, Darla isn't a favorite character. never thought that that might be a good thing. Besides, where's the impact on the audience if half of them are dying for Darla to get staked?

What about Kate? In real life, Elisabeth Rohm is doing Law and Order. A character death could give her an out and the fans like her a lot better now that she's not a "love interest" for Angel.

I would hate for the Host to kick the bucket and as of last night I'm sympathizing with Lilah. Hey, doesn't one of the spoilers say that Gunn is going to be arrested for a double homicide? What if the double homicide relates to the deaths in ep 9? If the deaths that Gunn is charged with are related to ep 9, then that means humans are involved, therefore Darla isn't amongst the dead!
