Subject: What are your thoughts on Darla’s pregnancy?

Hey guys, just wanted to know what you guys thought of this current Darla plotline. I’m going to answer some questions below. Do you guys mind answering them as well? =)

Do you think that Angel’s the father?

I think so. I mean I’ve read some comments that just because Darla was a prostitute back in the day, she obviously slept around in her present vamp days as well. I have to disagree with this. IMHO Darla prostituted back then because, well, she probably didn’t have a choice. Back then it was definitely a man’s world and the New World definitely was not a place for an independent woman. Plus, as we know from Julie’s interview, Darla only vamped Angel and prior to him she was only dedicated to the Master. She flirted with Lindsey because she liked having that sense of power and control over him, but other than that didn’t love him. JMHO, though. I didn’t get the impression that she slept with anyone else besides Angel during her time on ANGEL.

So it’s my guess that Angel’s the father.

Reasons for pregnancy?

I think it could be either two things. Either TPTB got Darla pregnant or either it’s because of their (Angel and Darla’s) not so typical vamp physical makeup, but either way this baby definitely was meant to be. As the shaman in "That Vision Thing" said "this is not meant to be known," which tells me that not only is this baby created or given order to be created by a higher power (tPTB) but also that this baby is a creation not known to man.

What will the baby be physically?

I think the baby will look human and probably even function as one, but overall will have considerable strength and power, or at least something special. I don’t think it’ll grow at a rapid state either. Darla and Angel had sex back in February and if Darla gives birth in time for November sweeps, well, that’s 9 months folks.

Predictions?

I don’t think "flame boy" is the baby in Darla’s womb. I think "flame boy" maybe someone that Angel might remember later from his past or he’s entirely a new face that’s just capable of incredible destruction. I think the baby is for the forces of good, possibly someone that will destroy evil’s master plan, yet the evil side just doesn’t know about it. The baby is kind of a secret weapon of sorts, a trump card for the PTB. Or maybe this could be one of those situations where "we just didn’t see you coming." I don’t expect the baby to last longterm wise on the show, but I don’t expect it to get killed either. That’d be too tragic even for ANGEL. The baby will probably be sent to another dimension and looked after out of safety until it’s needed.

Other Thoughts?

Other reasons why I think the baby’s good?
Well, for one, Darla tried to get rid of it. If Darla, who’s supposed to be an evil vampire, couldn’t get rid of it then I’m thinking it must be for some good. Also we have "flame boy," "W&H," and

All of these evil forces out to get Angel this season. That’s plenty enough right there, so I have a hard time believing the baby in addition to all of those bad guys is evil as well.


Angel’s reaction to being a daddy?
I think when Darla sees Angel she still has to be obviously pregnant. If not and Angel just sees her holding a child, he’d get the wrong impression. I think overall that Angel will be in denial and probably not even want anything to do with the baby … until it’s born. I don’ t know what to think personally concerning Angel because there are just too many factors or consequences (which is good) here. For instance these are the consequences he’ll have to deal with:

Consequence number 1:
-Darla didn’t seduce Angel into bed. He practically forced her. The gang will probably accuse Darla or trying to will Angel to sleep with her. No can do here though in this case.

Consequence number 2:
-Angel is a vampire and so is Darla. How in the world could they have a baby together? Research is a must.

Consequence number 3:
-Fang Gang reaction: I find it surprising that the gang never asked Angel how and why he returned to them. Finally, they’ll realize how far he sunk last season.

Consequence number 4:
-What to do with Darla after the birth? What if she wants to keep the baby?

Consequence number 5:
-Angel the father?

Consequence number 6:
-If Cordelia gets another vision, will Angel have to stay with the baby and let the gang handle the visions?

Wow, I wrote waaaay too much. =) I’ll make some of these points in my "review" of sorts of the Darla scene in "That Vision Thing."
