Subject: TV Guide "Billy" Episode 6 Info (spoilers and spec)

Angel

Billy
60 min.

"Angel's loyalty to his friends comes back to haunt them in this chilling episode, an unsettling blend of the series' usual horrors with the more realistic issue of violence against women.

Angel and Cordelia both knew there would be consequences when he freed the partially demonic (but totally evil) Billy from a fiery prison in hell in order to save her. Those fears are realized when a wave of violence against women is traced back to Billy, whose mere touch has the power to bring out the worst in otherwise good men. The crew rushes to prevent another brutal attack, unaware that Wesley has already been infected---and he's alone in the hotel with Fred. Billy: Justin Shilton."

Okay, I think I’ve figured out the Angel "goes dark" bit and we’ve touched on this before. I don’t think Angel goes dark in terms of being evil. Joss did say it’s a different sort. So I’m thinking that Angel goes dark as into a deep depression.

Think about it this way. Since "Epiphany" he’s picked up this rationality that it’s best to think of the now and worry about the consequences for the future later. There is no big plan and basically what we do now means more than any future ramifications.

I had a problem with this way of thinking because to me it represented an unbalanced approach. I mean, there’s simply nothing wrong with watching out or preparing for the future.

So basically to the beginning of this season all the way from Epiphany, Angel has based his life and mission on following Holland’s advice. He based the rebuilding of his life after a drastic breakdown on those words he mentioned at the end of Epiphany.

And look what happens.

I think Angel assumed that HE would be the one to deal with the consequences of letting flame boy free, but he nor Cordelia look to suffer at the hand of Billy.

Many people, women including men (realizing what they’ve done) are going to suffer at the hands of Billy. These are people and esp. Angel’s friends that he sworn to protect. Angel, who we saw in the last episode, probably already feels guilty about the Fred-crush situation. He left her hanging in the very end last night as well.

Now he’s not even going to be there to save her.

Maaaaaaaaan … talk about coming back to bite you where it hurts most. I’m loving these turn of events because my predictions are getting validated but at the same time I’m so relieved that Angel might have to rethink his way of thinking.

I have no doubt that Fred will be the only one to save herself in this case. I think the gang will come back to see the hotel in shambles and find out what happened while they were out solving the case. Michelle at the ASSB mentioned that this episode is similar to "The Shining." OMG, the terror of it all!

It’d be great if some points were brought up such as "Angel’s act now but think about it later approach," and why didn’t Cordelia speak up about there being another way to save her from the visions (re: Groosalug).

And on top of all of this, we get Darla eventually knocking on Angel’s door.

Well, it’s about time.

I feel bad for saying this because I like Angel, I really do, but "justice" and "payback" are sweet.
