CONGRATULATIONS DANIELLE!!! The rhyminig and flow in this was impeccable!! the entire theme of 'stalker' held together perfectly throughout and your 'natural, candid' style really brought this poem to real life! you met all the criteria and then some!! Excellent work Danielle!!!

Stalker

You follow me relentless
Though I try to hide away
You know all my thoughts and dreams
Through the words I write and say

You walked away from me once
Abandoned me while I plead
And yet from shadows like a bandit
You watched me while I bled

I remember well that first day
That you offered me your wine
Grapes of wrath are all that’s left
From a wonderful yet ominous time

You teased me with your promises
Of love and life anew
You nearly seemed a psychic
Will all the things you knew

How could I have even fathomed
That you were stalking me even then
Following, reading, yet telling me not
Calling yourself my kin

You brought the release of inhibitions
Forced me to write it all out
I told you all my secrets
And you stuffed them down my throat

I thought you were a miracle drug
You sheltered me from myself
How could I have know eventually
You’d put me on a shelf

You watch me now as I struggle
With a sanity long gone
You’re in my every nightmare
You’re my everything gone wrong

How cruel you are in this ambience
The gloom you surround me with
Just knowing you’re presence inevitable
Steals away my breath

But you and I are secretly bonded
In this foreign love affair
You stalk me, follow, choke me
God, you’re always there

I’ll keep running you know
Long and hard to be
Finally released from your prying eyes
Finally to be set free

But for now I think I’ll stick around
And we’ll both suffer a little bit more
You want to watch me dearest?
Your creation that you abhor?

Enjoy the view while you can
Because soon enough you’ll see
I will go where you can’t follow
I will be set free
