so am i...
and what can i say? you are such a polite fan. if you haven't seen her perform in ten years, maybe you'll enjoy the show. otherwise it was just an ordinay concert. contrary to pres release, they didn't give fresh arrangements to the songs which she had been singing all these years. save for some after hearing which you'd wish they's stick to the original arrangement. like that boring duet with gabby e. gabby who? oh well, you wonder why the hell she's wasting her time on this dude. he just doesnt have the talent... much less x factor to hit it big. wanna bet?
and if you'd been a very ardent fan, you'd notice most of the numbers were recycled. like you mentioned, on the wings she did first in one night... it was still awesome though... the movie medley, she had done many times. and the retro medley, she first did in r-16... her biggest flop to date. but a much better show than this onstage series.
i wonder why she had to say this is the first she'd be doing this kind of show... she had the same concept in the very best of regine at westin, though the repertoire included songs from other artists. and does she wanna forget r-16? damn, i thought that one should've had a live recording!
and contrary to press release, how could she not include you'll never walk alone? that song made her! more than narito... more than what kind... and more than any other song she did tonight. and where's the winning song from bagong kampeon?
this is not to say she didnt perform well... her voice was in perfect shape. but sadly the whole show was not well thought out... it seems that she and her md, (read: brotherinlaw) had nothing better in mind than to pick songs randomly from her albums. too bad...
god give her a more creative team to work on her upcoming shows.
i heard a new series is in the offing... an all-legrand repertoire. that itself is a good concept. simple yet promising. of course she'd sung piece of sky, no matter what happens, what are you doing the rest of your life, it might be you many times. but what the heck, at least she'l be doing a lot of new ones. but please, no more gabby e.
>Am back from the concert, "Songbird Sings"... Hmmm...
>what can i say? The concert started at half past 9 (as
>expected since there were still vacant seats around
>9). The only seen celebrity there was Ogie A. The
>stage was simply decorated by white cloths hanging as
>backdrops. The musicians were also dressed in white
>clothes. It was a sold-out concert and I can't believe
>that there were people sitting on the aisles. Oh
>well...
>
>The show started with our Songbird singing "Narito
>Ako" with ethnic beat. She even had a boo-boo with
>the timing 'cause she had to sing the first stanza
>twice. She redeemed herself later on. She was wearing
>the pink gown she had in the National Artists Tribute
>concert.
>
>Afterwards, she sang "Urong-Sulong". Then she did a
>medley of "Linlangin Mo", "You've Made Me Stronger",
>and "Sana Maulit Muli".
>
>She introduced her guest, Gabby E. He sang one song
>which I don't know the title of. Afterwards, Regine
>came back to do a duet of "It's Hard to Say
>Goodbye"--Latino style. It reminded me of Mark Anthony
>and J Lo's duet.
>
>She sang a medley of her past hits like "You Were
>There", "Bluer than Blue", and "I Just Don't Wanna Be
>Lonely".
>
>What else can I remember? She sang "On the Wings of
>Love", the version in her "One Night with Regine" and
>she started singing this song from the back so people
>in front (that's us) had to crane our neck to see her.
> People just love this song!
>
>Then she did her Movies Medley again. "Dadalhin" was
>nice to hear again. She also did a faster version of
>"Sa Aking Pag-iisa", reminiscent of the upbeat version
>of "My All".
>
>She started "Love Me Again" by dedicating the song to
>her father who was in front too.
>
>She sang "What Kind of Fool" and "I Don't Wanna Miss A
>Thing" for her encore.
>
>For being a Regine fan for almost 16 years now, I can
>say that this concert was indeed memorable 'cause she
>sang most of her well-loved songs but I could think of
>a better repertoire.
