All we need to do is look around us. How well do we spend our time? How many hours do we devote to work each day or each week? How well do we equip ourselves to carry out our different duties in our work place? How much time do we waste, idling away or chattering and gossiping? Unless we take on the attitude that through our work we have to keep fighting and struggling so as to achieve higher goals and reach higher plateaus, we will give short shrift to the injunction of "subduing" the earth. Moreover, unless we go all out up to the very limits of our capability at any given time that we are working, we will fail to "dominate" our environment and remove the many obstacles to progress.

The simple call to each one of us � and to Philippine society as a whole � is for us to buckle down to hard, serious work. And we should do so with a fighting spirit and the determination to solve problems and win battles so as to remove the many obstacles that stand in the way of our continuing and sustained progress.
