Diva-diva. O, 'Di Ba?

Ask (at random now) Regine Velasquez, Pops Fernandez, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Kuh Ledesma what kind of “divas” they are and they don’t take the “title” seriously.
“I’m the serious diva,” said Regine.
“I’m the more serious diva,” said Pops.
“I’m an even more serious diva,” said Zsa Zsa.
“I’m a so serious diva,” said Kuh.
Diva-diva. O, 'di ba?
The four divas are starring together in a concert called Diva 4 Diva on Dec. 6 at the Big Dome and it’s an “event,” no doubt about it. Kuh has done a concert (Power of Two) with the three other divas, separately, and it was her idea to gather all four of them for a once-in-a-lifetime show.
“It isn’t easy putting this kind of show together,” admitted Kuh. “It wasn’t easy convincing them to do it. It took me two years! Kinulit ko sila nang kinulit. I told them, ‘Would you rather do it when we are 75?’ Naku, huwag na!”
No, ehem, billing problem?
“Okay, aaminin ko na,” joked Kuh. “I happen to be the youngest kaya una ang name ko. Hahahaha!”
“We have no choice, do we?” Zsa Zsa said, also in jest.
“You know,” said Pops, “modesty aside, each of us has achieved so much, so mayroon pa ba naman kaming dapat ika-insecure?”
“But, I have a problem,” said Regine, sounding very serious. “Hindi pa nila ako binabayaran. Oops! Are we talking about billing statement? Sorry po, hindi pala! Hahahaha!”
What a show it’s going to be! Regine will have solo numbers, and so will Pops and Zsa Zsa and Kuh. Each of them will have a duet with each of the other three and then the four of them will sing together. Will there be any “scene-stealing,” maybe not as far as singing is concerned but “sartorially?” Wait, how many gowns will each of them wear?
Regine: “Ako, limampu! Ewan ko sa kanila.”
The three others simply smiled, looking as if they have some surprise up their sleeves and don’t want to show it.
Year 2008 has been good to her, so I asked Regine what is it that she’s most thankful for.
Regine: “I have my family and my friends, and I have a new home. Siempre, I have Ogie (Alcasid). Natutuwa ako na in-love ako. I’m also glad that Michelle (van Eimeren, Ogie’s ex-wife; they are divorced) and their daughters (Leila and Sarah) came to watch Ogie’s concert (at the Big Dome, marking his 20th anniversary in showbiz).”
And, yes, Michelle brought along her own new love, an Australian named Mark. Live and let live, you know. If Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and Demi’s ex-husband Bruce Willis can do it, why can’t they, ‘no? After the concert, the whole family flew to Hong Kong where Ogie treated his two little girls to a day in Disneyland. What many people don’t know is that Regine and Michelle have become friends, with Regine and Ogie actually spending one Christmas with Michelle and Mark at Michelle’s home in Brisbane, Australia.
Asked about her and Ogie’s wedding, Regine only smiled, as if to say, “It will happen in due time.” Soon?
Although she said she has been quiet and her life is “kind of boring,” Pops wondered why some people still find “something interesting” to talk or write about her, such as her being linked to Gabby Concepcion (“Not true! Gabby only asked for some pointers from me before his concert at the Music Museum.”) and her “LQ” (Lovers Quarrel) with boyfriend Jomari Yllana which had nothing to do with any third party (neither on her side nor his side) and which is, according to Pops, “common among lovers — and it didn‘t even last longer than four days!”
Zsa Zsa also found herself the object of tsismis, especially since she was conspicuously absent during the launch of her beloved Dolphy’s biography Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa last July and at the concert-tribute to him a few days later.
“I had a concert (with Basil Valdez) in Canada which was scheduled months earlier,” said Zsa Zsa. “Oo, nagpaalam ako kay Dolphy at pinayagan naman niya ako.”
Two days after this interview, Zsa Zsa flew to the States with Dolphy for both a series of shows and for vacation.
Heaving a sigh (of relief?), Kuh said with a laugh, “My love life is the most boring, kasi wala talaga ako n’un.”
Regine is the only one unmarried (but about to be) while the other three divas have survived one broken marriage each (maybe not beautifully).
So if and when Regine and Ogie do take the so-called crucial plunge, what advice would Pops, Zsa Zsa and Kuh give to her?
Pops: “Maybe she can learn from my experience. I got married young, so hindi ko na-enjoy ang pagiging single. Ngayon ko pa lang na-i-enjoy.”
Kuh (a Born-again Christian): “She and Ogie should have some counseling.”
Zsa Zsa: “Go for it!”
