Artists status on American Idol!!

OUSTED (April 7): Camile Velasco, 18, from Maui, Hawaii, was a favorite of the judges early on in the competition. But in her final performance, she slurred many of the lyrics in Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." ("Can't plah me in your pehn-has" for "Can't plant me in your penthouse.") Judge Simon Cowell told her that "somewhere in Las Vegas" Elton John was throwing a television out the window, and predicted it was the end of the (yellow brick) road for her. He was right.

OUSTED (March 31): Pink-haired Amy Adams, 24, from Bakersfield, Calif., impressed the judges last week by singing country-western, but didn't do as well in this week's Motown performance, when she sang "Dancin' in the Street." Said Randy Jackson "That last note, I don't know what song that was in, but it wasn't in that one." Simon Cowell called her performance "Safe." Unfortunately, in this game, "safe" equals "out."

OUSTED (March 24): Matt Rogers, 25, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., was never a favorite of the judges, but the fans brought him along for a while. The ex-college football player played his ouster to the hilt, however, personalizing "Amazed" with Simon Cowell's name and sprawling across the judges' table while he sang his goodbye.

OUSTED (March 17): Leah LaBelle, 17, made it to the final 12 as the wild-card choice of Paula Abdul. But even Abdul was less than thrilled with her final performance, saying "You were a little bit under on your pitch." Simon Cowell was even more blunt, saying "Leah, I packed your suitcase. Sorry." LaBelle attends Seattle's Garfield High, the alma mater of Jimi Hendrix and Quincy Jones. Unfortunately, she'll be back in Garfield's halls sooner than she had hoped.

STILL IN: Jennifer Hudson, 22, of Chicago, was the wild-card choice of judge Randy Jackson for her performance of "I Believe in You and Me." Although he criticized her outfit choice, Jackson said "You get the prize for the best performance of the night."

STILL IN: George Huff, 22, from New Orleans, who sang "Lean on Me," was the wild-card choice of legendarily tough judge Simon Cowell. Said Cowell: "When we talk about personality, you kinda sum up what we're looking for. You can just tell people are going to root for you."

STILL IN: Jon Peter Lewis, 24, from Rexburg, Idaho, was America's choice for his performance of "A Little Less Conversation." But not all the judges agreed. While Randy Jackson said "You sounded good, dude," Simon Cowell disagreed, saying "I thought the entire performance was horrible."

STILL IN: John Stevens, 16, the redheaded Rat Pack wannabe from East Amherst, N.Y., was a fan favorite for his blazing hair and old-fashioned style. But when Stevens performed the romantic "She's Always a Woman to Me," Randy Jackson said "I was almost falling asleep on that song, I don't know, I didn't get it." Famously tough Simon Cowell disagreed, saying "I actually hope you do well, because for me, you're different." Different and well-liked: Stevens received 28% of the vote, the highest of his group.

STILL IN: Flower-wearing Jasmine Trias, 17, from Milani, Hawaii, was a unanimous choice of the three judges for her rendition of "Run to You." Judge Randy Jackson said "I love the sound of your voice." Judge Paula Abdul agreed, saying "I think you sang great." They weren't the only ones: Viewers voted her through to the final 12.

STILL IN: LaToya London, 25, of Oakland, Calif., impressed the judges with her rendition of "All By Myself." Judge Randy Jackson gave her his top praise, saying "You were the best that I've heard since we started this thing." Paula Abdul called her "Unbelievable," and even tough guy judge Simon Cowell admitted "It was a superb, outstanding performance."

STILL IN: Diana DeGarmo, just 16, from Snellville, Ga, kept her cool despite her young age, singing "I've Got the Music in Me." Paula Abdul praised her "unbelievable" vocal range. "You remind me of when Christina Aguilera was nice," said Cowell.

STILL IN: Fantasia Barrino, 19, from High Point, N.C., was the overwhelming favorite of the judges, and also received 23% of the public vote for her perforance of "Something to Talk About." Tough-to-please judge Simon Cowell told her "You have talent. You are different. You are a star."
