I don't usually post period.
I value your music judgement. I do agree with you on most of the points that you have pointed out except for a few.

Regarding the fashion show. I think the majority of her fans ( both gays and non-gays ) love that. Since Regine is labeled as a fashion icon nowadays, she has a reputation to live up to, and everybody gets a kick out of that.
( By the way, I like the Victoria's Secrets Red Boxer Pajamie. But that red pumpkin dress has got to go) and by the way HOW IS BLACKIE??!!!

I agree with you on the Beyonce's numbers. But, I guess she was experimenting with something new. That is the fun-loving, playful, dancing side of Regine. By the way, in SF, they really like the " NEW REGINE ".

In regards to your comment on the musical talent of Mr. Raul Mitra, I won't comment on that; and your idea of having Regine perform with a big orchestra with Gerald Salonga has been all played out already. She already did that back in 2000 in " Regine Live Songbird sings the Classics ".and I thought that concert was ok. Perhaps it would have sounded better live than hearing a live performance on sound recording.

In addition, your idea of Regine having a retrospective, reminiscent type concert is also from a music producer point of view, pretty stale. First of all, I think she is still pretty young to start paying "tribute" to herself yet!!! (Did you say she is joining Prince, Aerosmith, and Rolling Stone in the Rock-N-roll of Fame!!???)

With her singing and singing and singing ....( you are right, she should rest her voice) all the time on SOP, Search for a Star, plus hundreds of different music variety gigs that she goes to, how many different versions and renditions of " what kind of fool am I ", or " When I fall in Love" can you do before your audience gets tired of it.

However, your approach of having "Regine and Lea" together is not a bad idea for the next upcoming concerts, ( I think you mentioned that you like Lea Salonga at one point), but I think the Regine camp also has other ideas like teaming her up with Ariel (the healing treatment ) or Jaya (the "what a friend's for" bonding therapy) or Pops ( the dynamic independent women duo).

To make a long story short, whoever her next singing partner might be, THEY WILL MAKE MONEY!!!! By the way, FYI concerts in LA = Sold out!!! in SF = Sold out"" in Las Vegas = 90% (not bad considering the fact that they sang on a SUNDAY Night and the concert didn't start until way after 8:00pm).

Lastly, you mentioned that you wouldn't mind being Regine's manager so you can recondition her voice, and manage her next concerts. Do you work for free??!! If you don't mind working just for the love of Music and our Songbird, then LETS TALK!!! Lolz.!!!

P.S. Enough about concerts, cuz I don't think she will be doing that for awhile!!! But, what is your take on her next album that is due pretty soon!!! Got any brainstorming, brilliant ideas for her soon to be released birthday album!!! We would like to hear it. Lets repeat the success of R2K, Drawn, and Retro!!!

Go REGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

LaMOm,

I don't mind her sporting fantastic gowns because I expect her to look presentable, but if the quality of the show is slight because of exorbitant amount of clothing changes, I would rather have her in one dress than have her change five times in the span of 2 hours. I really didn't feel it helped the quality of the show, primarily because I attended the concert to hear her voice. And my family and friends from chicago who paid for top tickets felt the same, and there were at least 20 people I know of from Chicago who attended her concert with Ogie. Also, they thought Ogie was more interesting to watch, and I sadly agree, and this is coming from someone who does not admire Ogie in the least.

As for the career retrospective theme concert, I think she has enough materials to cover and enough years in the business to justify this kind of concert, not to mention that many fans are clamoring for her to embark in this kind of endeavor.

In reply to Regine and Orchestra theme concert, I certainly did not think that Regine sings the classics should be classified as the type of concert I suggested. First, there group of musicians were very small, and most of the materials covered in that album/concert were played by a small band. The one night with Regine, conducted by Mr. Cayabyab with the San Miguel Phil-Harmonic Orchestra is that kind of concert, big and lush as I imagine is should. However, I am not fond of Mr. C's arrangements and orchestrations, mainly because I find his work to be very derivative and schmaltzy, lacking in subtlety in many areas like David Foster. I know it is audacious to say that, considering that Mr. C is well respected in our country, but I don't find him to be that great. He wrote some good songs and made our country proud, but I don't see him as good. I want regine to tour with a big orchestra and with Gerard Salonga because I think he is talented. She also deserves to sing with an orchestra to match her patented crescendos, and it will give her the sophistication she needs at this point, not that she is not sophisticated. I think the orchestra will help pull the and A and B demographics.

I don't like Ariel. He is such a vocal lightweight; the same could be said for Pops. Jaya is okay, but when the two sing together, they tend to sing endless rifts and runs and that could get ugly and tiring pretty fast.
Lea and Regine or Regine and Lani is what should be done, but I prefer the first pairing. Lea and Regine are the two real HEADLINERS of the philippines, and I can hear the two strong voices blending well, both pushing the other to different limits, and both expanding their appeal to different demographics. BOTH love Streisand, so just imagine the Streisand medleys they can tackle. What about the ALL PINOY SONGS concert? I would love to hear and see that.

As for Raul Mitra, I still think and maintain the idea that he is a second rate musician. And Regine should rest her voice. She is sounding reedy lately.

She should rest before tackling another album, and this time, she should find better materials to sing. I enjoyed Reigne, but I want the Legrand album to push through. If you know how to contact her, I would definitely be interested in sharing my opinion of her voice and material.
I don't work for free. I need to make a living, but I am happy with what I do. I just like to listen to good singers, and I happen to sing myself.

Good day...

Ivan

Heavy.. Ivan. Heavy stuff! You can't get away
with that kind of posting in the mailing lists.
hehe..

And that's why I'm glad people like you post
in here.

If I didn't know any better I'd think you
were a music man yourself. In San Francisco
you say you are? Not tied to any of the
Montes or Losticas or Fumars, by any chance?

Just checking..

;-)

I like people who say exactly as they
are feeling and thinking. Regardless
how painful it can be.

Raul, a second rate musician?
Heavy indeed..
