Living up to its promise of excellent performances from brilliant artists every month, 105.1 Crossover brings back Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez together with the TUX and The Opera for a rare and special evening of pure A Cappella music at the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental.
On Thursday October 23 and 30, experience another stellar performance from these exceptional artists as they dish out a classy, powerful and utterly moving rendition of your favorite tunes. Regine has truly spread her wings with her countless accomplishments that run the gamut - from sold-out concerts, box-office hits, platinum CD's and a successful TV career to boot. Being in the industry for more than a decade, her rise to the top was a long, arduous but very rewarding process. Having joined numerous local and national singing contests, her every winning performance encouraged her to aim for success in the music business. This became a reality when she joined the Bagong Kampeon competition and breezed through the opening rounds facing little resistance and was pegged by the audience to win in the finals. True enough her winning in the finals proved to change her life forever as she found herself in a recording studio, working on her debut single within weeks after the competition. However, her penchant for joining singing contests didn't stop there. She eagerly joined the Asia-Pacific Singing.
Contest as an official representative of the country. By the time the show ended, she became the pride and joy of the entire nation and was crowned champion of one of Asia's most prestigious contests. The exposure rocketed her from Filipino celebrity to Asian music superstar. Now, it seems like her singing career has gone full circle as she hosts her own singing contest "Search for a Star" on television which has been life-changing for many of her contestants. When asked what makes her so successful, she relates that everything has been possible through hard work and determination. "I work very hard at what I do. I try to do better all the time. I always make an effort to explore a different concept for my music and my shows. Even with the movies that I make, I always want to try a different role."
For this special two-night concert, vocal group TUX and The Opera will be joining Regine for a fun and entertaining moment of eclectic "A Cappella" performance. These versatile groups resist categorization by continually delving into almost all forms of music genres involving vocal harmony such as traditional choral music, pop, mainstream jazz, smooth jazz, dance and rhythm and blues and continue to expand their boundaries in vocal music. According to Sushi Reyes of The Opera, "It has been a dream for us to do this show with Regine and TUX. It will be a unique experience to blend all our voices onstage performing the most-requested tunes and Regine's all-time hits in purely A Cappella form. I don't think Regine has ever done this in her other shows, so her followers should really look forward to it."
Fans of the Songbird will surely be mesmerized when they witness her highlight a different facet of her amazing talent on October 23 and 30 at the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental.
