GMA is having a month-long celebration of its 53rd anniversary. For starters, Regine had a benefit concert for GMA Kapuso Foundation (which I will talk about in a little while). And SOP celebrated it too..
The theme was music from 50s to 2000. Regine and Jaya wore outfits from the 70s. Reg had this orange headband (hippie style) and complete with bell-bottoms. The dress was kinda big for her--maybe she just borrowed it. Teehee...
After a commercial break, the hosts introduced the guests and as expected, she informed the audience that Ariel is indeed a guest of SOP. Fans screamed.
In the Back2Back2Back portion, Ariel made an introduction. Janno sang first. Then came Jaya. And then our Songbird. She really likes the song, "Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin". I remember in one of her old concerts, she sang this too. Anyhoo, fans were screaming. I wonder how it is when you're inside the GMA studio. She gave a wonderful performance. After her number, she introduced and kissed her old friend on the cheek, which made a visible mark!!! Ariel sang "Simple Lang".
I guess there were many guests last Sunday 'cause I didn't get to see Reg change her clothes. She was beautiful with her hair extensions and all.
Ariel was overwhelmed by the warm welcome. Jolina uttered this remark, "Sabi ko sa yo ang saya-saya dito eh". Jolina and Ariel will have a teleserye this coming month. Jaya suggested that Reg and Ariel should have their own soap opera. ;o)
Paolo Montalban was back from LA. He promoted his first album. Jaya and Reg flirted with him during the interview.
In the jamming portion, the group sang with Ariel and the cast of "Kung Mawawala Ka"...
Now, let's talk about the benefit concert. It's entitled, "An Enchanting Songbird". She opened up the show with "Hinahanap-hanap Kita", dressed in a fuschia gown.
The stage design was kinda taken from "Pangarap Kong Ibigin Ka" video--falls, a bridge (with musicians at the center), and plants in front. When I saw the stage, I immediately thought of the benefit concert given by ABS-CBN to Reg.
Next song was "Love on the Airwaves" from Reigne album. Then came "You've Made Me Stronger" and "You are my Song".
Afterwards, she gave the first bulaga song, "Kailangan Kita". She sang this while sitting down. Of course, the crowd was ecstatic after that number.
Then, she sang "Harana" with Dingdong Dantes. She informed the audience that it's their third time to be paired up. First was "Larawan", second was "Huling Yakap sa Tag-Araw", and lastly, the upcoming movie.
Speaking of movies, she sang theme songs from her past movies. I think this is my fifth time to hear her sing this.
"Magpakaylanman" was the next number. She sang the first few lines and then Wency Cornejo finished it. They sang a very POWERFUL duet, "Habang May Buhay". Wency said, "Regine talaga, grabe!" after their song. I thought maybe during their rehearsals, she didn't belt out much.
Scenes from the movie, "Pangarap Kong Ibigin Ka", were shown. After each scene, Reg sang songs from the soundtrack like "Tayong Dalawa", "Kaligayahan Natin", and "All My Life".
Next was the theme song of the movie. Then came "Perry's Will".
The second bulaga number was "Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin". If you watched the concert of Martin and Regine, you can't help but compare the two renditions. When I first heard her sing this song, I got goosebumps! Super taas and galing!!! To add to that, the energy of the people in Araneta was high. This time, it's more mellow but the last few lines were great.
In almost all of Regine's concert, there is an audience participation. She sang "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" this time.
"Time of My Life" and "Somewhere" were her last two numbers.
Ahhh... it was a very nice Sunday for all of us!!!
