I agree. I saw her at an Asian Festival (Not Filipino) in Los Angeles not too long ago, and it was pretty sad to see that the only people that was paying attention to her were Filipinos. The other nationalities could care less. I guess she couldn't catch their attention or she didn't really do anything that would blow them away. Regine can sing but she has to be a little more diverse if she wants to become mainstream. She doesn't have the look for the industry.

Regine can be mainstream. She's the Barbara Streisand of the Philippines.

what's the deal with this mainstream crap anyways. maybe regine doesn't want to be in the mainstream cause she is happy where she's at right now.

i was at her concert at the grand olympic stadium in LA and the VP of BMG records came in her dressing room to talk to her about signing a contract with them, regine was flattered but didn't really say much, and replied that she will talk it over with her manager. I know cause i was there trying to get a picture with her.

maybe regine does not want to be in the mainstream. mainstream or not, she is a true talent, and none of us have any right what and where should be at in her career...

That's very true Alex. I really believe Regine is not that passionate nor motivated to become a mainstream international artist. Before i got the chance to get near her people, i really believed Regine would jump at the next chance offered to her. But now, although it pains me a bit that she's not as earnest as us in seeing her in the international limelight, I come to respect her decision. She knows what she wants and she will stick to it no matter what other people would have press. Kuntento na ang songbird. Maraming hindi maniniwala, but when you come to know Regine, you'll understand. Hannga't nariyan ang pamilya niya, di yan lalayo para maghanap pa ng ibang pugad.

I guess, the only hope we have right now is that she'll change her mind. Kahit one-album deal lang. The Legrand-project is a good start.

Jun says with straight face:

She's actually the female Barry Manilow of the
entire music world. She just likes to sing Barbra Streisand
songs and sings them well. But nobody on this planet can
sing a Manilow song and not effect you like our Regine
Velasquez can.

I know a music dude who refuses to hear her version
just so as not to get that painful feeling it brings
back to him about a long lost love.

Now that's musical power and influence of the best
kind if I ever heard one.

And how she can do some other songs like no other..

And I remember all too well how her beautiful version
of "If". It 'mistified' me beyond explanation the very first
time I seen and heard about her. How I know I'll never forget
that moment for the rest of my musical life.

Regine is without a doubt the best female artist
of our country and could have easily been among the best
of thr world. Unfortunately, her current material DOES NOT
reflect that but what do you want? She's performing for us
not the world yet, my Gulay..

mmJun
:-)

Never thought did I hear
someone as wonderful as you

and she would be just like me -
a filipino ..

to the one who wrote that regine cant be a mainstream artist...i must say you havent seen the best of her yet...i heard all the very best artist in this world from charlotte church ,mariah carey, celine dion, diana ross and i say the best.well you must know and heard of charlotte church the youngest opera singer in the world....in her album she sings really good but when i heard her sang if i loved you from carousel...i must say that regine sang the best version of it..there are songs that are not bagay to her but she remains to be the best interpreter in the world(she can't dance well but so is barbara streisand ,whitney h eh bakit sumikat sila sa states.)you should have heard and seen her performed with jaya and vernie varga the song of alicia keys...that was wicked she is magaling there grabee na to...so you must give regine her chance to shine outside our country..all she need is somebody in the usa or europe kaya na may kaya siang ipromote doon that is all she needs..di ba oks yun

i was there in hollywood at the lunar parade and i thought that among all the performers, regine was the best one. as a matter of fact she was the last one to perform for she was considered as the highlight of that program.

non-asians were not really paying attention to the other asian performers, but when regine went on the stage, it was a different reaction from the crowd. i've heard a lot of flattering comments given to the asia's songbird. the hosts of the program were so impressed. now i don't know where you were at when that happened...
