Michael, mounted on a borrowed gelding, halts outside of Death Shadow's corral. He had made a private deal with Mac, and the stallion was his. The stallion was already wearing a halter, and trotted up to Michael confidantly, for he'd been working with him these past few weeks, building trust. Michael snaps a lead onto Shadow's halter, and, clucking encouragingly to him, leads him out of the corral. He mounts the gelding, and rides off to the Crazy Ace.
