KSBY TV used to be a sister station to KSBW in Monterey, but that was before the Murdock's daughter and her husband bought and sold it. Now we no longer get feeds from Monterey...where most of our weather comes from.

The Tribune is a Knight-Ridder paper and their west coast headquarters are in San Jose at the Mercury-News. What former S.I.D.s used to do were write individual news releases to every starter's hometown newspaper.

It's easier to do now. You just write the personalized lead paragraph, insert the general Cal Poly preseason story, then add a paragraph on that player's position prospects, whether he's an OL, DL, DB, QB etc. That's what computers are for. Hope someone's using one.

And always update your media contact list. People move and you're just insulting the guy who took over as sports editor/news director if you use the previous person's name.
