Subject: NorCal Recruiting - Unknown Opportunities

I have mentioned this before but now I have the proof, so-to-speak. Northern California - North of Sacramento - goes largely unnoticed when searching for possible recruits.

Of the communities north of the large media outlets of the Bay Area and Sacramento, Chico and Redding, in my opinion, have the the most high school athletes with the ability to participate in D-1 athletics. Why these? Well, they are certainly the largest - each urban area is over 100,000. So by quantity they get the nod. They also have youth sports programs that the smaller communities in NorCal cannot provide or organize.

So, here's an example of someone that was missed...

"Rodgers is one of those football players who fell through the cracks. He was a passing sensation at Pleasant Valley High, then received only Division III offers. Part of his problem was living in Chico.

"We don't recruit north of Sacramento," one Pac-10 assistant coach told Dr. Ed Rodgers, Aaron's dad. "
