Agree with your thoughts on Olson. He has solved the Mustangs ongoing dilemna (for several seasons) with regards to the lack of a reliable 3rd starter.

Props to the Mustangs for starting out 4-2 in conference (especially the series win against Riverside). However, a little perspective here re: NCAA regionals. Cal Poly's RPI (slanted towards the South and against the West) is 104 and their ISR (more realistic) is 51, which is only 15th among teams in the Western U.S.

If Cal Poly is going to have a realistic chance of making it into the field of 64, the Mustangs need to go at least 3-3 the next two weekends against Long Beach and Fullerton in order to get the boost both in the standings and the RPI required to get noticed. Cal Poly finished ahead of Fullerton in the conference last year (as much as it pains me to write that, not out of disrespect to Cal Poly but because it means Fullerton came in 4th) but Fullerton made it into regional play due to their difficult non-conference schedule, something that Cal Poly needs to continue to improve upon.
