Subject: Halfway Mark Stats Highlights

The stats below are strictly for BWC play (not OOC)

Poly is 4th in the BWC in field goal % defense
This is a FAR cry from years past where we ALWAYS brought up the rear in this category. Or, should I say we took it up the rear in this category!

Poly is 2nd in the conference in rebounds per game but we are ranked dead last in rebounds against per game. Sounds like we need to do some box out drills boys.

We are number 1 in blocked shots by a large margin; we rank #2 in assists per game.

We are 8th in turnover margin. Again, another category we routinely were the worst in. But we've got to take care of the ball better.

Poly is #3 in offensive rebounds/game; #1 in defensive rebounds/game; #2 in 3 pointers made/game

Individually, Varnie is making a case for POY honors:

He is #3 in PPG
Tied for 1st in rebounds/game
#1 in blocked shots/game (by a wide margin)

Is it any wonder we are kicking but in the rebounding categories and blocked shots? Varnie is leading the way.

We have three players averaging in double figures and Geary is at 9.2ppg. That leads to a very balanced attack that is difficult to stop. When Geary and Allen are hitting, it is a beautiful thing. We know Varnie will get his and Shane can get his, but when we have four guys hitting--its tough to stop. Plus, we have Kamara and Johnson who certainly can score in double figures on a given night.

If we box out, protect the basketball better and stay healthy, we could be pretty damn good in the second half.

Go Mustangs!
