Subject: LA Times mention of Poly hoops

Anyone catch the LA Times this morning? Every day when one of the local non-major basketball teams is playing they include a 1-2 paragraph preview complete with records and recent notable results for the teams. Well in today's LBSU/Pacific preview, they mentioned that UoP is jockeying for a better seed in the BWT. They go on to say that if the season were to end today, UoP would face the daunting task of an opening round tourney game against Cal Poly!

That's the first time I've read anything positive about our hoops program in the LA Times.

By the way, would anyone at the Trib care to take a look at the Thursday or Saturday LA Times and see how the previews are done. Does anyone at the Trib know enough about BW basketball to toss a couple of insightful thoughts into such a preview? How about the day after a game. Can we add a little something to the canned 1 paragraph game summaries from conference games not involving CP? Could we maybe toss in an article about the importance of Poly's game Thursday against the Gauchos? How about an article about the Servite v. Pioneer high school game tonight? After all, our Atascadero 'Hounds get the winner of that game at home Friday. Sports editor, call me, I have ideas that can help turn your sports section into a winner, one that people look forward to. Its not that difficult. The raw facts are needed and you do that. But, insight, different angles, and a local hard hitting or humorous editorial column would help. You are doing a nice job w/ high school sports and I was happy to see the "Spring" football article today; but a little shift in your vision could make the sports section truly worth reading daily.
