Subject: Whatta game !!!

After reading posts on this board, and the gaucho board, I have a couple of observations. To the guy who was kicked out for hitting the referee with a sponge, I say "I feel your pain" Even though I don't condone having physical contact with a ref, I think it was more of the verbal barbs which got to him. I have watched that little squirrel referee BW games for at least the last 10 years. He is consistently biased against Cal Poly and if we win it has to be in spite of his calls. Luckily last night the end of the game went in such a fashion that he did not get a chance to assert his biasness. I think it is so obvious that I would be interested to know what happened in his past to make him that way. I don't think he could have been dissed for a scholarship (at CP) since he is way to small to compete in any sport other than maybe board games.

Mark Hull is a good basketball player in the mold of a Chris Bjorkland, but he is not a BW POY, when compared to other BW players. One excuse for his subpar performance last night was mentioned as a sore ankle. I submit that he was shut down by a battered, Shane Schilling, (20 Pts) who also has a nagging ankle problem and still has problems with leg cramps. Schilling is just a superior athlete. Hull did torch us for 18 points when we played in goleta, but Schilling did not play because of the aforementioned bad ankle. Look for Schilling to challenge Dennis next year as a POY contender.

The banter between the two opposing student sections was quite entertaining. I understand that the game was a early game, but if ucsb brought two busses they must have been the "short bus" variety. The whole home crowd got into the game and made a huge difference in the outcome of this game. High school gym or not a packed Mott is a hard place to come in and win a game.

Of course the elitists from goleta still maintain that there is no rivalry. When you can go 10 games and two years without a win and show this kind of intensity, on both schools part, what qualifies as a rivalry?

Go Mustangs.......
