Subject: Why jews took palestine?

I am not a jew nor, have a jew friend. However, i've read so many articles and heard so many reports from all sites in the world of the middle-east issue. To be sure, i tried to find any words (god's words) in bible and Koran and i cannot find any word saying that the land is belong to the jews(as claimed now).
So, anyone who could give me any religious evidence on the jews' right for the land.(from the talmud or torah, maybe)
In fact, historically the land is belong to the Canaanites whom ancestor of the Palestinian Arab today. So, please give any answer.
