Comment from Emperor's Clothes: As many have noted, the period since 9-11 is remarkable for the lack of public discussion of what were, if one takes the official scenario on face value, amazing failures of U.S. intelligence, the U.S. air defense system and airline security.
After hearing the news that the World Trade Center had been struck by planes, did George Bush rush to hold an emergency meeting with his staff? Not according to reporters on the scene; he spent half an hour reading to children. Did planes immediately scramble to protect the skies over Washington? Not according to government statements.
How did armed terrorists manage to seize control of not one but four planes and fly three of them with remarkable facility given apparently limited training?
How did these things happen? Who is responsible? Why?
These questions are worrying millions of people but they have not been publicly addressed. Instead an atmosphere has been created in which people are afraid to ask. We are told - with much demagoguery - that we must go to war even though officials never make it clear exactly whom we're supposed to be fighting.
Perhaps you are of the opinion that the enemy is clearly the Taliban? If so, consider this from the 'London Times':
"MODERATE elements within the Taliban would have to be recruited into a future broad-based government for Afghanistan, British diplomatic and intelligence sources say. Even before US and British forces go into action in Afghanistan, plans are well advanced for the establishment of a post-Taliban authority that may include many of the same people in power today."

What constitutes a "moderate Taliban?" Since we have been told, correctly, that the Taliban are fanatical sadists would moderate Taliban be fanatical sadists willing to accept U.S./British rule?
Osama bin Laden has been harbored by the Taliban. The Taliban have been financed ('harbored') by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia; and, in fact, the U.S. has contributed a few million from time to time. So now the U.S. (the Taliban's uncle) is going to go to war in alliance with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia (the Taliban's mama and papa) following which the victorious allies will install in power in Afghanistan: the Taliban.
Doesn't this suggest that the real goal of the 'infinite war' is not to crush Islamist terrorists, e.g., the Taliban? That the real goal is for the US and Britain to create a strategic presence in and around the former Soviet Republics of Central Asia?
And all the war hysteria, all the anti-Islamist talk is just a smokescreen to create favorable conditions for a very big, colonial power-grab. It is this power-grab which poses a grave danger of a war; but not in the Middle East, not against Islam. It is the creation of a strong US/British military presence in Central Asia that can lead to World War. Because despite Putin's extreme efforts to avoid conflict, the U.S. is threatening Russia's core national interests, and sooner or later Russia must defend those interests.
Below is a statement from Judicial Watch, a conservative 'public interest group,' reacting to the news that George Bush Sr. is in the "defense" business with the family of Osama bin Laden family.
It has been a week since the 'Wall Street Journal' (WSJ) published news of these business ties. Scanning the entire English-speaking press, Emperor's Clothes has found only one mention of the WSJ article; this was in the 'Weekend Australian' of 29 September. Nothing in the media in the U.S., England or Canada. Not a word from the U.S. government.
Are they all sleeping ?
Or did the 'Wall Street Journal' spill a few too many beans?

Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, reacted with disbelief to The Wall Street Journal report of yesterday that George H.W. Bush, the father of President Bush, works for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm. The senior Bush had met with the bin Laden family at least twice. (Other top Republicans are also associated with the Carlyle group, such as former oSecretary of State James A. Baker.) The terrorist leader Osama bin Laden had supposedly been "disowned" by his family, which runs a multi-billion dollar business in Saudi Arabia and is a major investor in the senior Bush's firm. Other reports have questioned, though, whether members of his Saudi family have truly cut off Osama bin Laden. Indeed, the Journal also reported yesterday that the FBI has subpoenaed the bin Laden family business's bank records.
Judicial Watch earlier this year had strongly criticized President Bush's father's association with the Carlyle Group, pointing out in a March 5 statement that it was a "conflict of interest (which) could cause problems for America's foreign policy in Middle East and Asia." Judicial Watch called for the senior Bush to resign from the firm then.
"This conflict of interest has now turned into a scandal. The idea of the President's father, an ex-president himself, doing business with a company under investigation by the FBI in the terror attacks of September 11 is horrible. President Bush should not ask, but demand, that his father pull out of the Carlyle Group," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.
"This has the potential of making 'Billygate' (Jimmy Carter's brother's dealings with Libya) look like small potatoes," added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
