Hi Don,

I know it touches us all. That is exactly my point. It isn't going to do anyone any good to start putting down civilian populations of any country. We're all in this together, whether we like that or not.

And as far as what the pilots supposedly said, what point is there is in trying to verify what they said? Do you think the US govt. would allow them to say, "I don't want to be here. I think this is a terrible mistake. Let me go home!" Not a chance. The fact that the statement is so 'cold' and frankly stupid, should be a clue to thinking minds that it isn't real.

The 70-90% figure ratings of approval of the strikes are done by non-scientific media polls. And as you go from network to network these vary considerably. Plus, again, the networks and stations are under tremendous pressure from the govt. to present the US as a united front to the world. And it just is not true. We have had a number of large and very vocal demonstrations against the strikes in Afghanistan all over the San Francisco Bay area. There were demonstrations against the strikes that were huge and gathering in Washington D.C. But they were dispersed and sent home. They are no longer allowed to demonstrate there for 'security' purposes. So in the name of 'safety and security' another founding freedom of the US has been revoked in Washtington D.C. How long before we get to demonstrate and raise our voices against this war at all from any place?

There has been at least some very limited news coverage of the demonstrations against the war. But the anchors make it absurdly clear that these people against the war are a minority. It's like they are walking on eggs even getting some of the truth out.

Our media in the US is not a free voice for the people, and it is quickly becoming even less so.

I'm not at all trying to be cold, and you of all people Don, should know by now that I am not like that.

I care very deeply.

Kindest Regards,

Ani
