I only got about half way through this so far (and will unfortunately have to stop now until the 18th). Its a shame we can't send saved games or screenshots, but here is what I would recommend based on what I have done so far:

Bronze, armor, sculpture and wood industries all in the southeast corner south of the waterway. This area is not really suitable for any kind of housing block so fill it up with other stuff. I also had Aphrodites sanctuary, stadium, theater and Hercules Hall in this area. The tiremes are on the waterway as well as fishing.

Grapes, wine, olive oil, sheep and wheat industries to the east of the meadow area between the two lakes. Urchins in both lakes.

Marble is, of course near the deposits but doesn't take much room.

This reserves the plateau and the main block of open land for housing. Large open spaces like these are the best for housing blocks. Don't worry too much about appeal. Playing on mortal with Aphrodites sanctuary present its fairly easy to get houses to evolve to townhouses. I will send you some block designs later in the week if I can get computer access.

BTW, please don't be offended by my mentioning it, but you did create space by clearing all the wood didn't you? I got rid of it all except for a little in the southeast so I could build sanctuaries.
