I know what you are saying about the Yankees and I have heard it mentioned that to root against them would be unAmerican. They certianly had America's tradgedy happen on their turf and New Yorkers did pull together and prove themselves compassionate good people. But don't think it would have been any different in other city in this country. And do I have to root for the Redskins because of the attack on the Pentagon? Or the Trenton (Thunder?) minor league team because of the post office anthrax thing?
Maybe I am just cranky because my Phils fell apart, but I don't see baseball as a metaphor for anything.
I am always accused of political correctness, but this time (as always) I am not going to do something because popular sentiment dictates it is the right thing to do.
