Greetings. My heart goes out to anyone needing to gain support from this site. It most likely means you've suffered injury or worse to yourself or a loved one. I work with an organization called SOS FIRES (www.sosfires.com) that focuses on the issue of child-set fires. We are a resource for professionals who deal with this specific education and intervention discipline but we also have resources to help families find help when their child has misused fire. If tragedies have not occurred, they might not be far off.

It's important to know that most often, children do not intend to cause the tragic outcomes that result from their fire use. Most often, they are engaging in an activity (fire use) that is an imitation of the adults around them. Other times, it can result from stress or crisis in their lives. In either case, help, not punishment, is the solution to interrupting the dangerous behavior. SOS FIRES can help.

We also host a very sobering "Memorial Page" that offers names and ages to the tragedy of child-set fires. Statistics can be very hollow and anonymous. By sharing the names of fire victims, we add a personal element to it that can be a very motivating factor for change in legistlation or safety concerns.

I wish you all the support you need to recover and live a full life. Please visit SOS FIRES if we can provide additional support in your journey.

Don Porth
