I'm a 30 year old history teacher in belgium.First,I have to mention that I 've been studying on the issue for 5 years.Here,what you are to read next is the short form of a 5 year detailed study:
***It's true that armanians died when they were sent on an exile to different parts of the ottoman empire.the toll has been an issue for debate since that time.However turks are thought to be minimizing the toll (number of the death),they have succeded to bring up the proof for their part.The ottoman archives,which I believe to be one of the neatest and the most detailed in the world, are in accordance with the eyewithnesses,most of whom are non-muslims,such as europian observers or officials in the country.Besides,turks do admit that people died due to hard living conditions and sickness.on the other hand,the armanians dont have much in hand than some miscalculations and misleading information which are easily spoiled by the turks..The armanian side should have came up with better proof..
In addition to these,the turkish side has been acting in a much more logic way,as beeing the part trying to bring the issue to a scientific base.they have made serious attempts to organise meetings for the historians of both sides...But, as a cristian,I was upset when I saw that armanians/armanian historians who asked for our support against the non-cristian turks were the ones trying to get away from discussing the matter.
Well before 1st word war,turks and armanians had been leaving together.that time turks were calling armanians as 'the nation of loyalty' (this saying is mentioned in the sources of both sides),which makes it clear that both nations had been leaving in peace and had profound/sincere relationships.Then,what had changed and brought them on the edge of killing each other????
ANSWER;the western policy...western states tried to use the armanians to weaken the ottomans.
RESULT: a disuster for the turks and the armanians which still prevails.(concider the political/economical dilema of armania and genocide debates for both sides..)NOW,TURKS,ARMANIANS ,AND RECENTLY AS THE THIRD,THE KURDS ARE BEENING PULLED IN TO NEVER-ENDING ARGUMENTS IN THE REGION...WE ALL WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...
THE CRIMINAL??????
THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR TURCO-ARMANIAN CONFLICT..
U.S. AND HIS WESTERN PLAYMATES....
