Sorry this is a bit off topic from your over all statment.

I have always looked at opening Pandora's Box as denoting something bad. But in regards to the Episcopalians / Anglicans splitting over this, I do believe not only think its a good thing but a very needed thing. I see it as God rescuing his people from the grip of Satan and his fallen followers.

The fall of this church is truly sad and it really grieves my soul. I really mean this!

On the O-Riely Factor TV show last night. He interview a spokes person for the Episcopalians from the convention floor. Basically, He asked the spokesman about how this appears to be in conflict with scripture and why would they do such a thing knowing full well the problems it would cause with its Bible based Believers.
The spokesman flat out said:
The bible "is just" a document, and we give it no authority. We are lead by the Holy Spirit and not by some document. We trust that our church leaders(cardinals) are indeed lead by the Holy Spirit and they have made the right decision.

This statement is "OUTRAGEOUS" its out right blasphemy! No Christian in his right mind would even want to be in such a fallen Church. What fellowship dose light have with darkness. My question would be, why the heck did this split not happen sooner.

I can see Gods hand in this. For the sake of the Born Again Christians caught in this truly once great church, all I can say is thank God for the split, and let us praise the Good Shepard for saving and delivering His people out of a church that has fallen away, in these last days.

RE:

In what way? Are you thinking in the terms of a possible domino affect of a series of church splits? And If so do you think that would be bad?

It goes with out saying, but I will. You have two opposing theologies under on roof.
Group 1). Believes the Bible to be "God breathed" and having final authority.... (you know all that)
Group 2). The bible "is just" a document, and we give it no authority.
This churches house is already divided, this Gay man becoming a bishop is simply a reckoning with that fact.

Pandora's Box is opening up something that should never have been opened - the fact that someone with an openly deviant life style every got nominated for a position of church leadership. It sets a bad precedence for other denominations to mimic. I also find it interesting the response of the spokenman you quoted. Even churches that believe in sacred tradition (like Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodoxy) would not blantently disregard holy scripture. And the comment that the Holy Spirit was leading the group to truth is absurd. How do they know they are correctly hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit?

Has anyone seen the recent movie “Recent Episcopal Church USA ordinances”? Critics from the major Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and mainstream protestant churches give this movie an average rating of one star. Imagine if you will that the US government had the same governmental authority as the monarchy of England. And picture the state of California being evenly divided into democrat and republican camps. Then suppose the democratic constituency passed a law legalizing medical marijuana, while the rest of the states opposed it. Now you have some idea of the movie plot. The Anglican Communion is largely conservative, consisting of about thirty eight church member groups, of which the Episcopal Church USA is one. And the current head of the Church of England is more like the Queen of England. Now I am looking forward to the sequel, where the conservatives threaten to form their own group. And there will be some plot twists when the conservatives withdraw financial support. State turned for the sequel entitled “Aftermath of the Ordinances”. This one should get at least three stars.
