亞洲區只限於香港、東京、泰國、新加坡四地區於2002年1月1日全球同步獻映。
今次迪士尼運用全數碼電腦動畫系統，每幅電腦畫面線素上由原本的2000線，提升到4000線線素（Pixels），足足一倍，大大提高了畫面的色素密度與光彩。
另外,更加插了一首全新歌曲，並配以一節全新繪製的片段，之前看過電影版的觀眾，也會有新鮮感。
香港只限於太空館獻映。

歷史洪流在跨越二十世紀的時段，正當西方世界對工業革命的成就寄予厚望之際，另一群人對機械入侵人類社會卻抱存疑的態度。誠然，二十世紀的確印證了一些可怕的事實。軍備競賽促成大量強力武器的產生，而人類亦飽受經濟機器的蹂躪。當年其中一個質疑科技對人類負面影響的便是奧地利出生的費立茲‧朗（1890-1976）。時間印證了他確是一位視野超凡的電影大師。重點推介的是《大都會》2001年新修復版本，該版本曾於本年初於柏林影展首映，並有現場配樂。更專程把柏林電影博物館籌劃的特別回顧展覽搬到香港來，並邀得來自慕尼黑的詹瑪曼樂團為《大都會》作現場伴奏，萬勿錯過。
