 融合教育的好處，是既減輕比較不幸的一群同學被社會遺棄及隔離的感覺，並從而學會融合主流社會的技巧；亦能令比較幸福的一群同學多學會一些關心別人、照顧別人的學問。
但若果校方處理不善，或同學和家長不能泯除對弱勢社群的偏見及歧視，或政府的配套措施有欠妥當，均有礙這計劃的成功。
