Subject: March 16th-Extending the legacy

Can the Marist women win an NCAA game for the 3rd year in a row? Can they get to the sweet sixteen again like they did 2 years ago? Very rare for a MAAC level program to do this. If Marist gets the right matchups, could be a lot more publicity on national TV for the MAAC. I know everyone is jotting down 3/16/09 on their calendars. Its a can't miss event. This is the day our unfortunate opponent is selected. With past success, MAAC should reward us with a 6 seed. However, the probably won't and will give us an 8 or 9.

Ensor, who's on the selection committee, suggested that they would likely be an 11 or 12.

Typically, there tends to be "respect seeding" and Marist has won 3 games the past 2 tourneys. They are on the periphery of the top 25. Give us a 6 seed already:)

because it is this years tournament. I know they won 28 games, but anyone who thinks that the 2009 Marist team is better than the 2008 Marist team is drinking WAY to much of the kool-aid. Last year's team had more quality opponents and wins. Beating Hartford is a good win, but they didn't win their league, so that hurts them.

Seeding is based on alot of things, not just win total. No marquee wins, against a softer SOS than usual is a formula for a lower seed -- the name recongnition may help, but now way they are a 6 seed.

We don't want an 8 or 9 -- we would then get the #1 in the second round. Give us a 12 and we'll play the 5 and then would get the 4 in the second round.

Although a 12 in that respect would probably be the best chance to a Sweet 16, this team has earned far more respect than to be seeded only one spot higher than the 2007 team. THAT team should have been at least a 12 or maybe even an 11. I think 11 playing a 6 then a 3 would be great, and I think they would have as much chance beating a 3 as they would a 4 in a second round game. After UConn and Oklahoma the next 5 or 6 teams are pretty equal. 9-12 or 13 to 16 which should be the 3 and 4 seeds in the tournament are probably all about the same.

than any team that got a 12, though in the end things worked out about as good as they could have from the 13.

Considering their performance this weekend, Marist would be one heck of a 12 seed. Yarde, notwithstanding, the freshman had an excellent tournament. Gang hit a big 3 late against Iona, Stallings showed she can play both in the paint and at midrange and is one tough character under the boards, and as Yankee said above, Best is a star in the making. Keep Thinking Nikki Flores.
