Subject: Anti-Abortion Display

Hey you guys! I'm sorry I was unable to attend the emergency meeting. Also, I will not be able to attend the meeting this Sunday. Yet, I did want to throw my two cents in about the anti-abortion display. I realize that they are perpetuating lies and myths. However, I am a firm supporter of the first amendment. I realize that on college campuses we don't have as many rights because of disturbance clauses, but I think that is wrong. College is a time where we are evolving into adults and we need to be able to express ourselves even if we have unpopular or misguided opinions. Likewise, others should have the opportunity to either support us or tell us we are wrong. I think that we need to committ to a plan of action that includes distributing and speaking the truth. I think it would be wrong to go to the dean and try to have them and their terrible display banned from campus. It would leave the door open to other groups who disagree with our message to accuse us of causing a disturbance. (Some conservative or women fearing people may feel that we don't have the right to sream at the top of our lungs after a meeting "I love my cunt and fuck the pro-life Cougars!"). Having our voices stifled would truly be a tragedy. Let's harness our anger and create an awesome countermovement and maybe next time Justice for All will feel that it's futile to come to UH because there is just sooo much support for women's reproductive rights!!!!
Much love, admiration and respect,
Laura Kelley
