I've been out of town, sorry for the delay. My requirements are to view, zoom, scroll, and print usgs drg files (geotiffs). I also use the area selection feature, but it is not vital. The memory issue is compounded for me because of the very large size of the tiff files (12mb average and something like 7000 x 5500 (off the top of my head)). Those are industry standard files, used in many GIS applications. The stripped down version may be what i need, but you can probably answer that more than I. Thanks for any ideas.
