I have not noted any problems with this. However, there are settings that require the driver to be unloaded and reloaded or they are ignored. I know that page layouts were one of them and resolution may have been another. I would have to look at the component wrapper code to be sure. I think there may also have been settings that required the driver to be loaded before changing. It has been a year or so since I looked at that - just been dropping my scanner on a form and letting it do its magic :)
