For the zoom question lets followup in your new thread.

For the OnClick handler it is different. The TImageScollBox keeps those events for itself to implement mouse handlers. See the TMouseHandler class in the help file. If you need to handle mouse events, you must create a class derived from TMouseHandler.

When zooming to 800%, I think your original image is probably quite large, and the Windows GDI system simply returns a black image if it cannot handle such a large image.
