Yes this is normal. JPG is optimized for true color images, so a Group iv black and white image will always be much smaller than a corresponding JPG in true color.

You can try changing the TJpegGraphic.SaveQuality to a lower value which may help a bit.

If these are images to be displayed on the web, you use PNG format instead which will be larger than tiff group iv but smaller than JPG.
