Subject: TIFF into array

Hi there!
I want to put a rasterized map in TIFF format into a 2d array. How can I do that in Borland C++ builder 6?
I've got other TIFF images with some data associated to this map (climate, soil...), and I will have some individuals moving in my landscape and their fate will depend on the values of the cells where they are ((x,y) coordinates).
I can't figure out how to do it (I'm a newbie) and I'm wasting my days...
Please help me!!!!
