Subject: Tiff loading problems

Hi,

Using Envision 1.10 (CB5), I'm having problems loading TIFF images. The problem is that I sometimes just get a completely white image of the same size as the tiff image.

My code looks more or less like this:

TPicture *pic=new TPicture;
Graphics::TBitmap *bmp=new Graphics::TBitmap;
Picture->LoadFromFile(...);
bmp->Assign(pic);
- then the raw image data is copied to memory using bmp->ScanLine[]
delete bmp;
delete pic;

The above code is executed inside a separate thread. The problem does not seem to occur if executed from the main VCL thread.

Further, in Task Manager I see that my program consumes more and more memory, every time the above code is executed. When it reaches 500 MB, suddenly it goes down back to 50 MB, as if Windows is cleaning up.

The problem only happens with tiff images, for jpeg files I'm not using Envision and don't have any problems.

I read on this forum about a fix replacing GetMem() by AllocMem(). Perhaps this solves my problem. Where can I find details about this?

Also, as you can see I'm only interested in the raw RGB data of the tiff image. Is there a way to get it without using TPicture, TBitmap or the GDI?

Thanks
Joost
